Ok, something is up... Every time I find a cool barn or rustic place to shoot at it ends up destroyed!
The first time it happened after doing a quick practice session with my sister getting ready for other shoots I had coming up. I had driven past this barn several times and each time thought, "That looks like it could be a cool rustic spot for photos!" I finally get a chance to do some there and I like what I saw, then BAM! Not two weeks later it was demolished and now is just farmland.
Next is Idaho City. Idaho City is an iconic town in Idaho that had this famous boardwalk with an old style ice cream shoppe, an old time photo place, and other neat little stores. I only got to do a couple of shoots there before the whole thing burns to the ground one night. Dangit!
The most recent location this happened with is a super cool barn that was so close to my home! It was actually one of the first things I photographed with my new DSLR when I first got one. Since then I had always wanted to do a shoot there but it was fenced off and the weeds all around it were tall and nasty. One day this spring I was driving by it and noticed that not only was a gate leading to it wide open, but the weeds had been mowed! SCORE!!!! So on the weekend of our anniversary my wife and I cruised down there to take our own anniversary photos and to test out the location for future shoots. The shoot went as well as it could have and I loved the look of the barn. I was excited to do another session there but not even a week later I'm driving by and I see tractors loading up what once was the awesome red barn. DAHHHHHH!!! So frustrating. One of these days I'm going to find the perfect barn or rustic looking place and it's actually going to stay put! If you know of one let me know. I'm getting a little desperate here!
Anyway, that's the story. Crazy right?!
